This entertaining and highly experiential 2-day training prepares acupuncturists to provide trauma relief and recovery programs in their own communities as well as abroad. Students and non-acupuncturist health professionals are also invited to attend. “Healing Community Trauma” strengthens the clinical, organizing and leadership skills that acupuncturists and other professionals need to establish disaster relief efforts and community service clinics for people affected by trauma.
It includes information on the following latest developments:
NOTE: AWB gratefully uses the NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) protocol for treatment when working with groups in the immediate aftermath of disasters. AWB volunteers often utilize different points in other settings, like ongoing community service clinics and international service trips.
At this training we will review the NADA protocol which most acupuncturists learn in school and can use wherever they are licensed to treat. However, only NADA can provide NADA certification specifically. At this training we will also review other acupuncture trauma protocols and direct you to resources where you can get further training with these methods if you so desire.
You do not need to be NADA certified to volunteer with AWB as long as you are facile with the protocol. You do need to have attended an AWB Level I training in order to work with AWB as a Team Leader.
“After 25 years of CEU classes, it is increasingly difficult to be really engaged by them. Thank you for a pleasant surprise! The weekend was packed with useful info and practices; how disaster response works in general, fine points of community acupuncture (no pun intended), team building and management, and more…” ~ San Francisco Training Participant, November 2013

How does Healing Community Trauma training fit into AWB’s work?
AWB’s mission is to bring healing, empowerment, and sustainable resources to communities affected by natural disasters, conflict, violence, and war. We train acupuncturists, students, and other health care professionals to work in their own communities with trauma-impacted people. We encourage participants to create on-going trauma-reduction projects where they live and work. This training also prepares participants for advanced Level 2 training should you wish to participate in AWB-related international relief projects.
We look forward to sharing this training with you and working with you in the future. Please sign up for our email contact list to hear about future AWB trainings and current trauma relief programs at: www.acwb.info.
