Acupuncturists Without Borders is offering a PDA/CEU qualified comprehensive weekend training at East West College of Natural Medicine.

€ How to recognize and manage acute traumatic stress
€ How to set up a community acupuncture event in your local area

€ Qi gong instruction and practice for reducing stress in toxic situations.
€ Logistics and practical application of a Community Style acupuncture session.

Participation in an AWB training is not solely for the purpose of becoming an AWB volunteer. We welcome all attendees, whether or not you will become or already are an AWB volunteer.

PDA/CEUs: 15 PDA/CEUs accepted by the NCCAOM, Florida and California (including 4 PDAs that meet the Ethics and Safety requirements of the NCCAOM).

Please Note: In response to requests at recent trainings, participants will now receive printed copies of the AWB Clinic Field Manual and the Supplementary Notes Packet, (these two were previously only provided electronically,) as well as a more in-depth Training Participant Manual. Together these three documents represent 150 pages of essential reference information that are unique and invaluable for implementing mobile field clinics. Current training prices reflect the inclusion of these printed materials as a courtesy to training participants.

CANCELLATION POLICY: AWB will grant refunds for cancellations as follows:
75% refunded if you cancel before or on March 6, 2010
25% refunded if you cancel after March 6, 2010 and on or before March 13, 2010
No refund after March 13, 2010, although there will be credit granted for a future training (within one calendar year)

How does this fit into AWB's work?
AWB is very interested in training more acupuncturists to be Team Leaders in the event of the need for a relief response as well as for the formation of a Veterans Clinic in your local area. Some of the benefits of Team Leadership are: 1) helping develop your personal skills as a leader, which are transferable to many areas of life; 2) giving you more personal access to AWB leaders to help you in this process; 3) offering a service that is needed, and will likely bring you and others unknown and immeasurable benefits.

In order to qualify as a Team Leader for AWB venues (including the veterans project and other future work), you will need to be approved by AWB staff. One way to do this is to attend a training; this gives us the opportunity to work with you in more depth. From our training group we will encourage the formation of a local group to start an AWB veterans clinic to provide free community acupuncture for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and their families.

The trainings are not currently required to volunteer with AWB as a regular team member (i.e. not a team leader), but attendance will enhance the quality of your experience and that of the team. When we start international programs, we will require that volunteers have attended an AWB training. Some volunteers will decide that a behind the scenes role suits them and others will be ready to perform on the front lines. Those who volunteer will have opportunities after the training for discussions with AWB staff about how they might best serve in the organization.
